Why Start A Nursing Blog?

Honestly, I've been wanting to start a nursing blog for a long time but who has the time?! I wanted to first, write for myself and second, share my experiences with all of you! I've learned a few things from being diagnosed with breast cancer: writing helps me process my thoughts and feelings AND chemo has left me with permanent brain fog. There are so many times where I can't always think of the right thing to say - I often feel like my brain is computing faster than my mouth or I feel like I'm searching for the right thing to say. I feel like I'm having a stroke some days- like my brain knows what I'm thinking but the words can't come out of my mouth! Writing allows my brain to "catch up".

Being an educator and ER nurse, I wanted to document and share my nursing journey. I also feel like nursing can be isolating, high stress, and emotionally draining at times so I wanted to provide a space to connect with others who understand! Hopefully sharing my experiences can educate, inspire, and provide comfort for patients, students, and other nurses. The goal is to raise healthcare awareness, promote advocacy, and demystify what it's really like behind the scenes of a working ER! Join me on this journey - it will be unapologetically real/raw and sprinkled with dark and twisty humor!
